Newcastle United has lost its last three Premier League games and is without a win in their last 11 matches, including two losses at Stamford Bridge.
In contrast, Chelsea have won four of their last five matches and Chelsea’s run of form has been more impressive than Newcastle’s.
The Blues have won just once in their past four games against Newcastle, but have won six in the last seven against the Magpies.
They have only scored twice in the past two matches, but it is a better record than the previous four matches in which Newcastle have failed to score.
Their record against Newcastle has improved slightly in recent weeks but is still below the best in the division.
They were beaten 3-1 in January and 2-0 in October, but Newcastle have never lost at St James’ Park.
It is a different story at St Mary’s, however.
They are unbeaten at home in five matches, with the only defeat coming in the FA Cup semi-final at home to Leicester.
That was followed by a 3-0 home defeat by Arsenal and a 2-1 home defeat at Stoke.
In all competitions, Newcastle have only lost once in nine matches away from St James’.
